The public consultation of the draft National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) lasted until 7 June. The essence of the NREAP is to present the feasible trajectory for the development of the use of renewable energy sources by 2020 and for the fulfillment of the EU’s Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of renewable energy sources.
In PWEA opinion a number of solutions proposed in the NREAP leads to a very serious doubt or actually fear concerning the Poland’s capacity to meet its commitments towards the European Union concerning the share of renewable energy sources in the total energy consumption in year 2020 at the level of 15%. Polish Wind Energy Association filed with the Ministry of Economy an opinion concerning the draft NREAP together with an application for rejection in full and re-development.
Due to the circumstances, PWEA called on 10 June in Warsaw a press conference concerning the contents of the NREAP, where we will brief representatives of the media with those fragments of the NREAP, which are most detrimental to the RES sector. We think that a public discussion on nonfeasance of the document may still create an opportunity to change the NREAP, what would give Poland an opportunity to fulfill its own commitments in the area of production of energy from renewable sources.
